Movement for Mummas: Postnatal Fitness Classes in Newcastle

Start the 2-week trial

Strength, Pilates and yoga programmed for postnatal recovery, with your baby alongside you.

2-Week Trial At A Glance

Training with a baby in the room is a different problem to training. You need a session that can pause while you feed. You need a room where a toddler wandering across the mat isn't an issue. And you need a coach who understands that a body four months after birth is not the body you had before, and programs accordingly.

The 2-week trial is $49. Two weeks of Movement for Mummas — five mornings a week, babies and toddlers alongside you. No obligation after it ends.

If you continue, memberships from $38 a week, billed fortnightly. No lock-in, no auto-renewal.

What Movement for Mummas actually is

Movement for Mummas runs five mornings a week, each session drawing on a different discipline from the studio's timetable — Movement & Strength, Yoga, Pilates, and Endurance & Conditioning — programmed for bodies in the postnatal window rather than adapted on the spot. Load, range, and intensity are scaled to where recovery actually is, not to a generic fitness level. Babies and toddlers come to every session, so training doesn't depend on arranging childcare.

Bringing your little ones

Babies and toddlers come to every session. There's room to park prams, and space on the floor for little ones to play — there's a small selection of toys at the studio, and you're welcome to bring whatever keeps yours happy. Feeding and nappy changes happen in the gym itself; it's a room full of mums, so it's perfectly normal and nobody thinks twice.

If your baby needs feeding halfway through, feed them. If they need carrying, carry them — a good portion of the class works fine with a baby on your hip, and your coach will show you how. If you need to step out and come back in, step out and come back in.

What to expect in a session

Five sessions across the week, four class types. Everything is scaled — the version you do in your first week is not the version the woman next to you is doing, and that's the point.

Monday and Friday are Movement & Strength. Pushing, pulling, squatting and carrying — full-body strength work that rebuilds the load-bearing capacity carrying a child all day quietly demands. The two sessions are programmed differently, so coming to both gives you a fuller week rather than the same session twice.

Tuesday is Endurance & Conditioning. Simple, dynamic movement done at pace — kettlebell swings, step-overs, skipping — to rebuild cardiovascular capacity. Around 30 to 35 minutes of actual work inside the 45, with rest built into every round, scaled to where you are.

Wednesday is Pilates. Core stability, pelvic control and posture. This one runs inside the main studio timetable, so other members train in the room alongside the mums group that day — the same session, just not exclusively mums.

Thursday is Yoga. Breath-led, sequenced movement, working on the hip and thoracic mobility that feeding and carrying positions tend to take away.

What you'll build

Across the week, the sessions work different systems on the same recovery. Movement & Strength rebuilds full-body and grip strength and the capacity to carry, lift, and get up off the floor under load. Pilates rebuilds deep core and pelvic-floor strength and the postural control that a pregnancy and months of feeding tend to erode. Flow Yoga restores breath, thoracic mobility, and the range that carrying a baby quietly takes away. Endurance & Conditioning brings aerobic capacity back at a pace that meets a broken night's sleep where it is. Four mechanisms, one recovery, progressed at the speed your body sets.

Who this is for

Most of the room will be mums somewhere between three months and three years post-baby. There's no upper limit on that — if your youngest is four and you never quite got back to training, this is still the right class for you.

You'll need to be at least six weeks postpartum with clearance from a GP or physio. Before six weeks, or without that clearance, this isn't the right starting point yet — get in touch and we'll point you somewhere useful in the meantime.

No prior training experience needed. If you trained hard before you had children, you'll find the ceiling. If you've never set foot in a studio, you'll be coached from the start.

What happens after your trial

There is no obligation after the trial ends. During your two weeks, one of our team will have a no-pressure chat about what makes sense for you.

After the trial, the options are:

  • Mumma's Membership — $44 a week, billed fortnightly. All five classes, every week.
  • Mumma's Foundation — $38 a week, billed fortnightly. Select any 4 Mumma's classes per fortnight.
  • Mumma's 10-Class Pack — $220. Ten Movement for Mummas classes, used whenever suits.
  • Mumma's Drop-in — $26.50 for a single class.

If you want the run of the whole timetable, any of the studio's general memberships cover the Movement for Mummas classes too — ask the team which one fits.

Practical details

Infuse Health, 4/10 William Street, Adamstown. Movement for Mummas runs Monday to Friday, 9:45am to 10:30am, capped at 15 per session. Bring water and wear something you can move in — everything else is here.

This is a new addition to the timetable, so early sessions will be small while the group builds. In practice that means more coaching attention per person, not less.
